Before You Hit Send: What 42 HR Intern Applications Taught Me About First Impressions
Between yesterday and this morning that I put out the application for HR Intern, 42 CVS have come in. And here are the few things I’ve noticed;
1. I’m the hiring manager and recruiter and it’s for my business ( why say dear sir/ma/hiring manager)
Understanding how comfortable I was with putting this role out, I was expecting people that saw it personalize the application as seen.
2. Typographical error- why are you in a hurry to put out your application at the risk of being tacky? C’mon guys not in 2026. Patiently put your application out and know you put your best foot forward because that’s the first impression I get.
3. Why would you send an email without a subject and body of a mail … please now! How do I take you seriously ? For a role I’m not asking for too much. And alot of people expect that they miraculously get this job? No way!
Even scripture says when the foundation is destroyed what can the righteous do?!
What can I do 😩 these are red flags already.
P.s- I have 3 roles on Security Guard that have possible resumption for February. Don’t sleep on it.
Kindly repost to entry level and people who need this.
